Getting Started

Get OpenTypeless up and running in under 5 minutes. This guide covers installation, initial configuration, and your first voice input.

Installation

  1. Download OpenTypeless from the official website for your platform (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
  2. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
  3. Launch OpenTypeless — it will appear in your system tray.
  4. Open the settings panel from the tray icon.

Configure Your Providers

  1. Choose an STT provider (e.g., Deepgram) and enter your API key.
  2. Choose an LLM provider (e.g., DeepSeek) and enter your API key.
  3. Select your preferred language or leave it on Auto Detect.

Your First Voice Input

Defaults: macOS Fn for dictation and Fn+Space for Ask Anything; Windows Right Alt for dictation and Right Alt+Space for Ask Anything; Linux Ctrl+/ for dictation and Ctrl+. for Ask Anything. Linux keeps Ctrl-based defaults because global Right Alt handling varies by desktop environment.
