Independent Developer

I built OpenTypeless in half a day using Claude Code. As a solo developer, I believe great tools should be free, open, and respect your privacy. OpenTypeless is my answer to voice input that actually works.

The Story

I was frustrated with existing voice input tools — they were either locked to one provider, required subscriptions, or produced text that needed heavy editing. So I built OpenTypeless: a desktop app that lets you pick any STT and LLM provider, works in any application via a global hotkey, and produces clean text you can use immediately. Built with Tauri, React, and TypeScript in the spirit of Microsoft's open source philosophy.

Tech Stack

Tauri (Rust) for the native shell — fast, lightweight, and secure. React + TypeScript for the UI. A modular provider system that makes adding new STT and LLM services straightforward. The website you're reading is built with Next.js and deployed on Vercel.

Open Source Philosophy

OpenTypeless is licensed under MIT — free forever, no strings attached. Your API keys stay on your machine. Audio goes directly to the provider you choose. No middleman, no tracking, no vendor lock-in. Contributions are welcome — whether it's code, translations, or bug reports.

OpenTypeless (OpenTypeless) is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Groq, Deepgram, AssemblyAI, or any other AI service provider mentioned on this website. All product names, logos, and brands are property of their respective owners. OpenTypeless acts as a client interface that connects to third-party AI services using the user's own API keys or through our official proxy service for Pro subscribers.
