What does 'Bring Your Own Key' (BYOK) mean?
BYOK means you sign up directly with STT and LLM providers like Deepgram, OpenAI, or Groq and use your own API keys in OpenTypeless. This gives you full control over your costs and data. OpenTypeless never sees your API keys — they are stored locally on your machine in an encrypted configuration file.
How much does typical voice input usage cost with BYOK?
For most users, the API cost is less than $1 per month. A typical voice input session lasts 10-30 seconds per use. If you make 50 voice inputs per day using Deepgram ($0.0059/min), that costs roughly $0.15 per month. Many providers like Groq and AssemblyAI offer generous free tiers that cover casual usage entirely.
What is included in the Pro plan?
Every user gets a one-time free bonus of 15 minutes of cloud STT and 100K tokens of AI polish — no API key needed. The Pro plan ($4.99/month) gives you 10 hours of cloud STT per month across 99 languages, approximately 5 million tokens of AI polish per month, cloud backup and restore, Pro scene template packs, and priority support. BYOK usage remains unlimited on both plans.
Can I switch between Free and Pro at any time?
Yes. You can upgrade to Pro or cancel your subscription at any time. If you cancel, you keep Pro features until the end of your billing period, then revert to the Free plan. All your settings, custom dictionary entries, and provider configurations are preserved regardless of your plan.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes. If you are not satisfied with the Pro plan, you can request a full refund within 7 days of your subscription. After 7 days, you can still cancel at any time and your subscription will not renew. See our Refund Policy page for full details.
