macOS Accessibility Permission
Use this guide when the OpenTypeless hotkey, text insertion, dictation, or Ask Anything behavior fails on macOS after installing a new build or replacing an old version.
Reset macOS permissions
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and make sure OpenTypeless is enabled.
- Open Privacy & Security > Microphone and make sure OpenTypeless is enabled there too.
- If an old version was authorized before, remove old OpenTypeless entries that point to a deleted app bundle.
- Quit and reopen OpenTypeless after changing permissions.
- Test the global hotkey, normal dictation, and Ask Anything with one short sentence.

macOS permission FAQ
Why does the hotkey work in one build but not another?
macOS may treat a moved or replaced app as a different app for Accessibility permission. Re-enable the current OpenTypeless app in System Settings.
Why can Ask Anything record but not insert text?
Recording depends on Microphone permission. Text insertion and global automation behavior can also need Accessibility permission.
Should I delete old permission entries?
Yes, if they point to an old version or deleted app bundle. Keep the entry for the current OpenTypeless app you actually run.
Does changing permission affect cloud words?
No. Permission changes are local. Cloud words are used only when hosted STT or hosted LLM requests are made.
